A business tax receipt formerly known as an Occupational License is required to operate a vacation rental property in Miami, Florida.
Vacation Rental Registration
It is important to follow the short term rental laws in Miami if you want to operate a vacation rental. Miami Florida classifies a vacation rental as any dwelling unit or residence including, but not limited to, any unit or group of units in a condominium, cooperative or apartment building that is rented in whole or in part to a transient occupancy for a period of less than 30 days or one calendar month, whichever is less. To operate your short term rental you are required to have:
- License from the State of Florida
- Registration with Florida Department of Revenue for tax purposes
- Tourist Tax Account to collect and remit monthly Convention and Tourist Development taxes
- Approved Vacation Rentals Application
